It’s been a rocky two seasons for Pitt men’s basketball coach Kevin Stallings. Last year, he failed to reach the NCAA Tournament, despite leading a team with four returning starters that had made the Big Dance a year earlier. This year, the Panthers knew they would take a hit as all of those players graduated. But an 0-18 conference record (and 8-24 season overall) was even worse than expected.
Pitt’s season officially ended today with a loss to Notre Dame in the NCAA Tournament and the question of retaining Stallings comes front and center. Will Pitt buy him out of his contract or will the coach get a third season?
