The Pitt baseball team defeated Georgia Tech over the weekend and the softball team had similar success, also taking two out of three in their series against the Yellow Jackets.
The Panthers split a doubleheader on Friday, winning Game 1 by a score of 4-2 while dropping the second contest, 8-6. They rebounded in the finale on Saturday to win 6-2. Power hitter Giorgiana Zeremenko, the school’s all-time home run leader, remained hot, blasting a pair of home runs in the series.
Pitt’s softball team remains on a hot streak in the conference. Their only series loss in the ACC was to Florida State last weekend and the team has won all five of their other series’ against North Carolina State, North Carolina, Virginia Tech, Duke, and the Yellow Jackets. Now 22-16-1 on the season overall, the Panthers sit in second place in the ACC Coastal (11-6 in conference), only one game behind the Tar Heels, who they previously defeated in a series.
The team has a mid-week game against Kent State on Wednesday before a series against Virginia over the weekend.
