Pitt softball wins one, but loses series to No. 13 Florida State

2016 Softball - Kaitlin Manuel PittsburghPanthers.com

Pitt’s softball team had its toughest conference test of the season this weekend with a series against Florida State. While the Panthers didn’t win the series, they had a very strong showing overall.

The Panthers lost a really tough game in the opener, 2-1, but as Stephen wrote over the weekend, the team rebounded by winning Game 2 in eight innings, 1-0. That victory was significant as it not only gave the Panthers a ranked victory, but it snapped an incredible 36-game conference winning streak for the Seminoles, who hadn’t lost in the ACC this season or last season. You had to go all the way back to 2016 to find a Florida State conference loss.

Pitt dropped an ugly finale on Sunday, losing 8-0 in only five innings but, overall, it was still an impressive showing for the Panthers who hung with one of the top teams in the country.
