Panthers Go 3-1 Over Weekend

The Pittsburgh Panthers followed up a strong 2-0 start to their September exhibitions two weekends ago, with a 3-1 record this past weekend. Pitt split against the St. Francis Red Flash, while they managed to sweep the Fairmont State Falcons. Here was the starting lineup in their first game against St. Francis.

The Panthers were trailing for a good portion of the game; they found themselves down 1-6 until they managed to score 5 runs in the bottom of the fifth. A defensive battle took the game into extra innings. The Red Flash added a run at the top of the ninth, which proved to be the decisive run.

This was the starting lineup for the second game.

It was pretty much all Pitt in this one. They scored 2 runs in the bottom of the second to get themselves on the board and added 4 more over the course of the game in what ended up as a 6-0 victory to end their double-header on Saturday. Head coach Jodi Hermanek had this to say after the game:

Senior Kaitlyn Kruger went yard just one batter later, and the Panthers were off and running. They would add 2 more runs while sophomore Abby Edwards and redshirt junior Brittany Knight held the Falcons to just 1 run for the game, allowing Pitt to take a 4-1 victory in the first game of the afternoon.

Here was the lineup from the second game.

A lead-off home run by Levesque would end up being 1 of 4 homers in the game, 2 by sophomore outfielder Katlyn Pavlick, and was all the Panthers needed in a lop-sided 8-1 win to sweep the double-header. Here is what Hermanek had to say about the games against Fairmont State:
