Pitt takes on North Carolina this week and will enter the game as a favorite.
I expected the odds to be closer to even on this one given the two teams look pretty evenly matched up on paper. But, according to Oddshark, the Panthers opened as a six-point favorite and are still holding at about a 5 1/2-point favorite, give or take.
I mean, I don’t think that’s outrageous. Typically folks say that playing at home is worth about three points and, assuming that, that means odds makers have Pitt as a 2 1/2-point or 3-point favorite in this one. But given the Panthers’ terrible history in this game since joining the ACC, I could see it being lower, too, with gamblers scared off by Pitt.
