Talk about games sneaking up on you.
With Pitt football playing last night and with the basketball season just starting, the Backyard Brawl with West Virginia is something that’s not been on my radar much. But the men’s basketball team will face the Mountaineers tonight in a home game on ESPNU.
So far, West Virginia has only played once — a 94-84 win over Akron. The Mountaineers, if you’re wondering, were predicted to finish fifth of the ten Big 12 teams in the preseason poll.
Perhaps Pitt is a bit more game ready with three games under their belt and they also have the advantage of playing at home. But as we saw against Nicholls State and in the first half against Robert Morris, the Panthers are still very much a team still working out the kinks.
