Pitt vs. Monmouth: Open Gamethread

NCAA Basketball: West Virginia at Pittsburgh Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

After an ugly loss against West Virginia, Pitt hopes to rebound tonight with a game against Monmouth.

The Panthers (2-2) will be at home again and are expected to win this one, obviously. The Hawks are 1-3 and were most recently blown out of the water by Kansas, 112-57. They also lost by 20 to Hofstra and by 19 to Kansas State, with their lone win a narrow 66-62 victory over Lehigh.

Given the Panthers’ offensive struggles this season, I’m not sure we can expect a blowout against anyone, frankly. But if Pitt manages to lose this one, it would be pretty ugly. Pitt was really beaten up on the glass against the Mountaineers (losing the rebounding margin, 53-37) so hopefully that’s a point of emphasis tonight.
