Here’s how I rank the conference teams based on what we’ve seen so far. Number in parentheses is the team’s ranking last week.

  1. (5) Pitt (7-3) - 34-27 win over North Carolina

Just kidding. Had to see who was paying attention.

  1. (1) Clemson (11-0) - 52-3 win over Wake Forest
  2. (2) Virginia Tech (7-3) - 45-0 win over Georgia Tech
  3. (3) Miami (6-4) - Bye
  4. (4) Virginia (7-3) - Bye
  5. (5) Pitt (7-3) - 34-27 win over North Carolina
  6. (7) Louisville (6-4) - 34-20 win over NC State
  7. (6) Wake Forest (7-3) - Lost to Clemson
  8. (8) Florida State (6-5) - 49-12 win over Alabama State
  9. (9) Boston College (5-5) - Bye
  10. (10) North Carolina (4-6) - Lost to Pitt
  11. (12) North Carolina State (4-6) - Lost to Louisville
  12. (13) Syracuse (4-6) - 49-6 win over Duke
  13. (11) Duke (4-6) - Lost to Syracuse
  14. (14) Georgia Tech (2-8) - Lost to Virginia Tech

Not a whole lot of movement this week. The top five teams all remain the same with little shifting elsewhere.

Louisville and Wake trade spots in the middle and Duke drops a couple of spots after losing badly to Syracuse. NC State moves up a spot, despite losing to Louisville. That’s mostly to allow for Syracuse to leapfrog Duke while still having the Wolfpack ahead of Syracuse because they beat them head to head.

Some teams still playing non-conference games this weekend and I’m not sure how much movement we’ll see again. But there will definitely be a shakeup in the top five thanks to the Pitt-Virginia Tech contest.
