Against the Odds: Pitt favored against Boston College

NCAA Football: Pittsburgh at Virginia Tech Peter Casey-USA TODAY Sports

Pitt takes on Boston College this weekend in the regular season finale and, while the game is no gimme, the Panthers are moderate favorites in this one.

The Panthers, as of now, seem to be a 9 to 9.5-point favorite in this game. That’s somewhat surprising just because Pitt has really not dominated their opponents this year. Their biggest margin of victory all year long has been ten points and, given the offense’s issues in the last game combined with the fact that Boston College needs this win for bowl eligibility, that seems like it could be a big number.

Granted, I could easily see Pitt winning this game by that much. The Eagles are not a great team and I do think the Panthers will want to show up on Senior Day in the home/regular season finale. But given the history of the team this year with playing in so many close games, I’m not sure I’d bet on that scenario.

What do you think of that number?
