Pitt-Boston College: Open Game Thread

Pitt plays its first game on the heels of securing their first commitment for next season.

NCAA Basketball: Syracuse at Pittsburgh Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

Opponent: Boston College

Conference: ACC

Current Record: 11-11 (2-8)

Last Game: Feb 9 67-56 L @Syracuse

2017 Season: 19-16 (7-11) 12th

The Eagles lost all ACC First Teamer Jerome Robinson (20.7 ppg) to the NBA Draft Lottery, but they return Pre-Season First Team Selection Ky Bowman who’s averaging over 20 per game as the primary option.

Last Meeting: Feb 13, 2018 Pitt 58 BC 81

What we said in the recap: “On the strength of their shooting, and with the contribution of some inside scoring from the likes of Kene Chukwuka and Terrell Brown, the Panthers were able to take advantage of early missteps by the Eagles, which included Robinson getting himself into some foul trouble...However, as has often been the case this season, Pitt took its foot off the gas and allowed Boston College back into the game, as the Eagles went on a 16-4 run to finish the half, bringing the score to 34-32 in favor of the Panthers.”

Prediction: Like Pitt, Boston College has had several near misses in conference play. They have a 3 point loss @Notre Dame and 6 point losses at home against Syracuse and Notre Dame again. Like most of these February ACC matchups, this is a winnable game for Pitt, they just have to find a way to put it together.

Game time is at 7:00 p.m. and you can find it on ESPNU.

Hail to Pitt.
