After picking up a big commit last night in Gerald Drumgoole for the 2019 class, Pitt will host New York City twins Justin and Julian Champagnie for official visits this weekend per Jake Weingarten of Stock Risers
Justin is the higher ranked prospect of the two, ranked as a 4* by 247 Composite and the #115 player in the 2020 class. Julian is a 3* prospect per Rivals, and both hold offers from Rutgers, Seton Hall, Texas, Cincinnati, and several mid majors. Both are in the 6’6” to 6’7” range, and can play either guard or forward.
Just as significant as the news the twins are visiting is the report that they are likely reclassifying from 2020 to 2019. You might remember that Jeff Capel convinced Trey McGowens to reclassify from 2019 to 2018 when he committed to Pitt last spring.
Some Pitt fans are likely going to ask “where are the bigs?!”. Pitt’s rebounding issues are well documented, and Pitt will definitely have to address them by adding 1 or 2 bigs in this class. Thankfully, Pitt will have at least two more spots to fill even if both twins happened to commit.
