Pitt Looking to Rebound Against Syracuse (Open Gamethread)

NCAA Basketball: Pittsburgh at Syracuse Mark Konezny-USA TODAY Sports

Pitt faces Syracuse for the second time this season on Saturday. The Panthers are looking to end a slide which has seen them lose their past four games.

Last time against Syracuse, Pitt hung with the Orange until the second half when they began to pull away.

I feel slightly more optimistic about Pitt here. I don’t know that they’ll have enough to win but the team has been much better at home this season. Aside from the drubbings they suffered at the hands of North Carolina and Duke, they’ve been good there in conference, defeating both Florida State and Louisville, two teams that are both currently ranked.

What I’m most looking forward to seeing is what kind of intensity the team has tonight. There’s been a lot of talk about the team being fatigued and running out of gas with so many young players. But they should be fairly well rested tonight with only one game since last Sunday.

Plenty of rest, retro jerseys, home crowd, night game — at a bare minimum, it’s hard to imagine the team will look sluggish tonight.

Game time is at 6:00 p.m. and you can catch it on ESPN2. Join us here to comment live during the game.
