Pitt-Georgia Tech Open Game Thread

Pitt travels to Atlanta for a late night ACC showdown

NCAA Basketball: Virginia Tech at Pittsburgh Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

Opponent: Georgia Tech

Conference: ACC

Current Record: 11-15 (3-10)

Last Game: Feb 16 69-47 L vs Florida State

2017 Season: 13-19 (6-12) 13th in ACC

Key Losses: G Josh Okogie (18.2 ppg, 6.3 rpg, NBA), C Ben Lammers (11.7 ppg, 8.1 rpg, graduation), G Tadric Jackson (12.7 ppg)

Key Returners: G Jose Alvarado

After a 21-win season in 2016 in his first season in Atlanta, Josh Pastner has had trouble replicating that success. This will be the third straight season they’ll finish in the 300s nationally in scoring offense (though to their credit their defense is always a top 50 unit).

Last Meeting: Jan 13, 2018 Pitt 54 Georgia Tech 69

What we said in the recap: “Pitt has gotten off to some slow starts this year, but today’s took the cake. The Panthers started the game off ice cold and quickly found themselves trailing, 21-1. That’s not a typo.”

Prediction: Pitt has lost nine in a row. Georgia Tech has lost seven in a row. Something has to give. Let’s hope it’s Pitt’s road losing streak. Fresh off my first correct prediction of the season, let’s go Georgia Tech 64, Pitt 58.

Hail to Pitt.
