Pitt looks to avenge January’s loss in Raleigh.

Opponent: NC State

Conference: ACC

Current Record: 16-7 (4-6)

Last Game: Feb 5 96-113! L @UNC

2017 Season: 21-12 (11-7) 3rd

This is the second time this season Pitt gets to play NC State immediately after the Wolfpack lost to UNC.

Last Meeting: Jan 12 Pitt 80 NC State 86

What we said in the recap: “Still, despite it all, what you come away with two games into the ACC season is that Pitt will, at the very least, compete this year. That might not necessarily result in something insane like a postseason opportunity but these guys should be able to challenge a lot of conference foes for victories. They’ll lose their fair share but will probably find a way to steal a few along the way, too.”

Prediction: NC State scored 24 points two games ago against Virginia Tech and luckily for Pitt they avoided the inevitable regression toward the mean game that was sure to follow. Even with the 24 point performance the Wolfpack are still a top 20 scoring team (and removing that game puts them in the top 10). Pitt could use a bye week but they’re not getting that until the 7 day break between GT on 2/20 and Clemson on 2/27. They need to stop the bleeding somehow. Pitt has recently had near misses against ACC opponents they play twice in the first game only to get blown out the second time so I don’t know what to expect in this one. For that reason I’m not going to make score predictions until they break the streak.

Hail to Pitt.
