Pitt-Miami Open Game Thread

Pitt gets one last crack at a road win this season.

NCAA Basketball: Pittsburgh at Virginia Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

Opponent: Miami

Conference: ACC

Current Record: 12-16 (4-12)

Last Game: March 2 57-87 L @Duke

2017 Season: 22-10 (11-7) 3rd

Key Losses: G Lonnie Walker (11.5 ppg, G League), G Ja’Quan Newton (8.8 ppg, graduation), G Bruce Brown (11.4 ppg, NBA)

Key Returners: G Chris Lykes, G Anthony Lawrence

Forward Dewan Hernandez (played last year as Dewan Huell) was ruled ineligible this season after accepting benefits from an agent. He has decided to turn pro and will not be back with the program.

Last Meeting: Jan 31, 2018 Pitt 57 Miami 69

What we said in the recap: “Still, the one thing you can say is that the team is playing better. Finishing games remains a problem and any time Pitt has been close in conference games, opponents have pulled away at the end. But I suppose it’s somewhat encouraging to see the losses closer.”

Prediction: Pitt wins. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut sometimes. Hopefully Toney continues his strong play from the Virginia game. Pitt ends a 4 game stretch where their opponents ranked 10th, 51st, 26th, and 1st in PA/G. Miami is 169th so hopefully Pitt finds their offense again. Pitt wins 72-70 and we all celebrate.

Hail to Pitt.
