It’s been another rough season for the Pitt basketball team and with a 13-game losing streak, it’s clearly been a rough stretch.
But there’s some light at the end of the tunnel and by light, I mean the regular season concludes today for the Panthers. Let’s face it — it’s been a rough year and the end of it can’t come soon enough.
Even though it’s been bad, though, there might be one final highlight with the team facing Notre Dame at noon today. The Panthers aren’t a good team but, in the Irish, they’re not facing one, either. Notre Dame is 13-17 on the year and has won only three games in conference to Pitt’s two. And getting the game at home helps the Panthers in the eyes of the oddsmakers as Pitt is favored by 2 1⁄2 to 3 points.
That’s not a huge surprise, I guess. The Panthers will play at home today and on Senior Day with the end of the season here, I expect they’ll come out playing as if they have something to prove. Given all of the losing, though, being favored is still kind of noteworthy.
