The preseason USA Today Coaches Poll was released on Thursday. To the surprise of no one, Pitt was not ranked. But one of the more interesting story lines is that the ACC as a whole did not get much love.
Defending champion Clemson is there at No. 1. However, after that, the only other ACC ranked team is Syracuse at No. 22.
This seems to speak of the general parity of the conference. But the other thing is that, like any preseason poll, this is all a bit of guesswork, too. I suspect that a few ACC teams will be worthy of the Top 25 by the end of the year — certainly at least during some part of the season, anyway. But which ones those are is very much up in the air.
