Pitt has a big matchup with No. 3 Notre Dame this weekend and, despite getting the game at home, it’s little surprise that the Panthers are not expected to win.
This game sort of seems like it could be tailor made for a Pitt upset but Vegas still installed the Panthers as double digit underdogs this weekend. The line opened with Notre Dame being favored by 9 1⁄2 points and its since grown to 10 1⁄2 or 11, according to most books.
Part of the problem here is that the quarterback situation for Pitt is up in the air. It looks like Joey Yellen will get another start and if that’s the case, what the Panthers get at quarterback is a bit of an unknown — despite a fairly strong performance from Yellen last week.
