Here’s your overview of scores with commentary for this week’s ACC football action...

Saturday, Dec. 12th, 2020

Early Game

Wake Forest Demon Deacons 21 at Louisville Cardinals 45

To say that Louisville got off to a slow start is an understatement. The Cardinals had one first down and four net yards in their first five possessions. However, they only trailed by seven. Once they got it together, Louisville scored 21 points in the second quarter and another 24 points in the second half to win going away. The Cards finish the season 4-7; the Deacs drop to 4-4 with one game still scheduled.

Next up for Wake: Florida State

Next up for Louisville: offseason.

__________

Mid-Afternoon Games

#17 North Carolina Tar Heels 48 at #10 Miami Hurricanes 18

Through three quarters, UNC was averaging 11 yards per rushing attempt. That’s not yards per pass, nor is it a misprint. The Miami defense, which has been decent if not special, simply could not stop the Tar Heels running attack.

Next up for UNC: bowl game

Next up for Miami: bowl game (GT game was canceled).

__________

Duke Blue Devils 21 at Florida State Seminoles 35

FSU scored 28 points in the first quarter, then zero in the second as Duke pulled within seven at halftime. In the third period, the Seminoles outscored the Blue Devils 14-0, then matched Duke 14-14 in the fourth quarter to seal the win.

Next up for Duke: offseason

Next up for Florida State: at Wake Forest

__________

Prime Time Game

Virginia Cavaliers 15 at Virginia Tech Hokies 33

All indicators going into this in-state rivalry game showed UVA on the rise, VT on the decline. That’s why they play the games. The Hokies’ defense was stingy throughout, and the Virginia Tech offense exploded for 24 points in the second quarter to take control of the game.

Next up for Virginia: offseason/bowl

Next up for Virginia Tech: offseason/bowl

__________

Thursday, Dec. 10th, 2020

Pittsburgh Panthers 34 at Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets 20

Pitt played a complete game, even if it was a bit sloppy. The Panthers rushed for 317 yards - mostly thanks to the feet of Vincent Davis - while the defense held the Yellow Jackets under 100 yards and forced three turnovers.

Next up for Pitt: offseason (will not accept bowl invitation).

Next up for Georgia Tech: offseason (Miami game canceled).
