Kirk Christodoulou named second-team All-American by Pro Football Focus

Pitt punter Kirk Christodoulou was named a second-team All-American by Pro Football Focus on Monday, joining Pitt teammate Rashad Weaver in receiving All-America honors from the football analytics website. The Aussie punter posted arguably the best season of his collegiate career, and frequently set Pitt’s defense up with great field position.

Most notably, Christodoulou booted the ball away 53 times this season, and he averaged a career-high 44.7 yards on those punts. He also managed to keep all but one of those out of the end zone, posting just one touchback and exhibiting remarkable command of his punts. In addition, 30 of Christodoulou's 53 punts ended in a fair catch, and 23 were placed within the opponent’s 20-yard line.

Another notable aspect of Christodoulou’s work in the 2020 season is that opposing teams only managed to accrue 83 yards on punt returns. That resulted in a net average of 41.94, which ranked 12th in the nation.

As a result of Christodoulou’s outstanding junior campaign, he has not only earned All-America honors but is also in the running for the Ray Guy Award, which is awarded to college football's top punter every year.
