Pitt faces Miami today in a game the Panthers could really use. The Panthers have lost their last two in tough road matchups to Duke and Syracuse and, at 4-6 in the ACC standings, aren’t too far from slipping towards the basement.
Pitt (13-8) still does have plenty of winnable games left on the schedule. And it’s hard to call this game a must win since the Panthers don’t look bound for the NCAA Tournament even in the slightest. But it is a game against one of the conference’s weaker teams and, at this point, it’s simply about winning as many games left as you can.
Pitt, of course, lost to Miami earlier this season, 66-58, though they certainly made it interesting, even after trailing 16-0 to start the game. That start, like so many others, has been one of the prime reason the Panthers are still struggling. Pitt would fight its way back in that game but then fall behind by 20 in the second half and have to do it all over again.
Formula for today? Not to start the game down by 16 points, I imagine.
Game time is at noon and you can catch it on the ACC Network. Stephen will be down at The Pete covering the game for us so be sure to give him a follow on Twitter.
