One of Pitt head coach Jeff Capel’s top recruiting targets will be in attendance at the Petersen Events Center for the matchup with Miami on Sunday, as William Jeffress, a blue-chip recruit out of Erie, Pennsylvania, is set to visit Pitt with his family.

Tom Reisenweber of the Erie Times-News was the first to report Jeffress’ visit, and he noted that Pitt is high on the talented wing’s list of prospective destinations. Pitt is the closest school to Erie to offer Jeffress, but he has also drawn interest from major programs across the country and holds offers from Baylor, Memphis, Penn State and Stanford as well.

Jeffress is a 6’7”, 195-pound wing out of McDowell High School, and he holds four-star ratings from 247Sports, Rivals and ESPN. Each of the recruiting websites counts Jeffress among the top 65 recruits in the nation in the 2021 class, but Jeffress has been mulling reclassification to the 2020 class and could play at the college level next season.

It is currently unclear when the elite recruit plans to make an official decision on reclassification or a college commitment. Pitt and Miami are set to tip off at noon ET.
