Pitt guard Ryan Murphy is set to miss his team’s matchup with Miami on Sunday, as he is recovering from a concussion that he suffered at practice on Thursday. This will be the first matchup Murphy has missed since coming to Pitt from New Mexico Junior College in 2019.

Murphy is Pitt’s most prolific deep shooter, as he leads the team with 110 three-point attempts and has converted on 35.5 percent of those shots. In addition, he is one of the team’s top scorers, as he has contributed 10.1 points per game this season, and that average ranks fourth on the team. However, he hasn’t contributed significantly as a rebounder or play facilitator, with just 2.6 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game this season.

In Pitt’s last matchup with Miami, a 66-58 road loss for the Panthers, Murphy scored nine points but put on his second-worst three-point shooting performance against ACC competition to date, as he went 1-for-5. His only worse ACC game came in Pitt’s 73-65 road win over North Carolina, when he went 0-for-4. He also made zero threes against Duke but did not attempt any three-point shots.

Pitt and Miami are set to tip off from the Petersen Events Center at noon ET.
