Pitt guard Dayshanette Harris was named the ACC Freshman of the Week on Monday after leading her team in scoring against Wake Forest and Florida State and extending a double-figure scoring streak to four games in the past week. Harris is the fourth Pitt player to earn the honor, as Yacine Diop earned it in 2014, Jasmine Whitney did so twice in 2016, and Amber Brown won it twice this season.

The Youngstown, Ohio, native was instrumental in Pitt’s 53-48 upset of Wake Forest last Thursday that snapped a 12-game losing streak. She led all scorers in the contest with 13 points, led Pitt with three assists and ranked second on the team with seven boards. In addition, Harris came up with a career-high three blocks against the Demon Deacons.

Harris once again put on a show against Florida State on Saturday, as she put up a team-high 17 points to go with seven rebounds, two assists and a steal. The 17-point total Harris posted marked the fourth time in four games that she scored in double figures and led her team in scoring. However, despite a solid effort from Harris, the Panthers were defeated by the Seminoles 66-41.

Over the last week, Harris averaged 15.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.5 blocks per game. In her last four games, Harris has averaged 16.0 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.8 steals. Both of those sets of stats represent marked improvement in scoring and rebounding, as Harris’ stat line for the season sits at 10.5 points, 4.1 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.8 steals per game.
