Against the Odds: Pitt a slight favorite against Louisville

No. 21 Pitt faces No. 24 Louisville in an ACC clash on Saturday. The two teams look to be pretty evenly matched and Vegas expects a close game.

The Panthers are favored, but only slightly, by about 2.5 points. Given that home field advantage is usually worth about three points, oddsmakers clearly think the teams look pretty even.

I’m guessing that’s about where I come out on it, though I could have seen oddsmakers installing a push, too. While Louisville did not look great, especially defensively, against Miami, Pitt did not exactly put on a dominant performance against a weaker Syracuse team. The Panthers have not really been tested yet and questions surely remain. But at home, I’ve got no problem viewing them as a slight favorite.
