Pitt was scheduled to face Clemson at the Petersen Events Center on Sunday, but that game has been postponed due to positive COVID-19 tests within the Clemson program. However, the ACC announced on Wednesday that Pitt would host No. 16 Florida State on Saturday instead, filling a newly established void in the schedules of both teams.
Florida State was scheduled to host Virginia Tech on Saturday, but that game was also postponed due to positive tests in the Virginia Tech program. That created an opportunity for Pitt and Florida State to make up a game that was originally set to be played on Jan. 10.
This is the second time the matchup between Pitt and Florida State has been rescheduled. After the postponement of the Jan. 10 game due to positive COVID-19 cases in the Florida State program, the matchup was moved to Feb. 6. It was then delayed once more, as there were again positive cases at Florida State.
Under Jeff Capel, Pitt is 2-2 against Florida State. And looking further back, the Panthers have won four of their last six matchups with the Seminoles. The newly scheduled game between Pitt and Florida State will tip off from the Pete at 4 p.m. ET on Saturday.
