The Pitt volleyball team is red hot since the spring restart to the season. After a 4-4 fall campaign, the team is a perfect 5-0 this spring and possesses a 9-4 record.
Last week, the team was ranked No. 22. But after sweeps of No. 20 Georgia Tech, Wake Forest, and NC State, the Panthers find themselves back in the Top 20 of the AVCA Coaches poll at No. 19 this week.
It could be argued the Panthers deserve to be a little higher but it’s clear the mediocre fall record is still hurting them in the polls. Since then, though, Pitt has been nearly perfect, winning 15 out of 16 sets.
Next up are games against Miami and Duke this weekend. Neither team is even getting votes at the moment so even victories there may not help the Panthers much in an attempt to get back into the top ten, where they were for much of last year.
