Pitt WR Jared Wayne signs with the Houston Texans

Wayne joins Pitt teammate Brandon Hill in Houston

The NFL Draft has officially come to an end but Pittsburgh Panthers will still find homes in the NFL. Shortly following the draft wide receiver Jared Wayne has decided to sign with the Houston Texans he announced on Twitter. Wayne becomes the second Panther to join the Texans after Brandon Hill was selected in the 7th round of the draft.

After becoming the clear number two to Jordan Addison in 2021, Wayne took a step forward in 2022. Wayne managed to hit 1,000 yards and caught five touchdowns in a run-first Pittsburgh offense.

Though Wayne didn’t hear his name called during the draft, he quickly became a priority undrafted free agent. The Texans are getting younger and have made getting weapons for 2nd overall pick C.J. Stroud a priority. Wayne will join fellow rookie 3rd round pick Tank Dell and 6th-round pick Xavier Hutchinson to try to carve out a role on this offense.
