Pitt OL Gabe Houy signs with the Chicago Bears

Gabe Houy becomes the second UDFA from Pitt to land on an NFL roster

The success of the Pittsburgh Panthers continues when it comes to their players getting picked up by NFL teams. Offensive lineman Gabe Houy will be signing with the Chicago Bears according to Jerry DiPaola.

Houy dealt with injuries throughout the 2022 campaign which could have contributed to his name not being called during the draft. The reason the Bears made the quick jump on Houy is the impressive tape from 2021.

Houy was an anchor on the ACC championship team en route to being named to the All-ACC third team. The veteran had experience at both guard and tackle and will be joining a Chicago Bears franchise desperate to find some help for quarterback Justin Fields. Fields was under constant duress and had the highest pressure rate allowed in the NFL. The Bears are hoping that Houy can help be a part of the unit that can protect their franchise quarterback that they traded out of the number one overall pick to help.
