Pittsburgh Panthers to return to TBT this summer

The “Zoo Crew” will make their return to The Basketball Tournament

For the first time since 2018, the Pittsburgh Panthers will represent in The Basketball Tournament. The Zoo Crew will represent Pitt alumni new and old in the annual showcase.

The Basketball Tournament is a 64-team showcase in March Madness format each summer. The winning team gets to take home one million dollars in prize money at the conclusion of the event.

Nelly Cummings, Nike Sibande, and Greg Elliot will join the squad fresh off of playing in the NCAA tournament for the Panthers last season. Gary McGhee was a part of the last great era for Pitt basketball having made the NCAA tournament each of his four seasons under Jamie Dixon. Jamel Artis was an All-ACC player in his time with the Panthers and played for the Orlando Magic.

Former Pitt star and current Director of Player & Alumni Development Gilbert Brown will serve as the team’s general manager. Pitt will play in the West Virginia regional in Wheeling, W.V. on July 25th.
