Pitt Comes in Tie for Sixth in ACC Preseason Media Poll

Pitt is tied with Duke, behind the usual suspects

NCAA Football: ACC Media Days Jim Dedmon-USA TODAY Sports

The results of the 2023 ACC Media preseason poll were released today on Twitter, (I refuse to acknowledge the new dumb name) with the Pittsburgh Panthers sitting in sixth place, tied with the Duke Blue Devils.

Clemson and FSU look to be the darlings of the conference, ranked first and second respectively, in what could be both programs’ last year in the ACC. Also ahead of Pitt are UNC and NC State, with a handful of first-place votes sent UNC’s way. A lone ACC media member is a staunch NC State believer, as they received a singular first-place vote. Miami, a consistent beneficiary of preseason overrating, rounds out the top five.

The ACC is doing away with divisions beginning this season, likely making Pitt’s road to an ACC championship game tougher than it would have been last year.

FULL POLL RESULTS:

  1. Clemson, 2,370 points (103 first-place votes)
  2. Florida State, 2,304 (67)
  3. North Carolina, 1,981 (5)
