2016 commit, Maverick Rowan, will have his team playing in the PIAA State Championship today.

Pitt is already out to a fast start in the 2016 recruiting cycle. The Panthers landed a local prospect to start the class in Maverick Rowan and the young star for Lincoln Park Performing Arts High School has not disappointed this season. Rowan will have the Leopards playing for a class A state championship this afternoon in Hershey against Math Civics and Sciences Charter School of Philadelphia.

Rowan has been lights out in the PIAA playoffs and so has Lincoln Park. Lincoln Park avenged a loss to Johnsonburg last year with a 96-47 thrashing in the first round with Rowan leading the way with 32 points. Rowan followed that with 23 over Forbes Road (81-28), 37 over Vincentian (99-64), and 32 over Bishop Carroll in the state semifinal. Rowan outscored the Bishop Carroll himself as Lincoln Park cruised to an easy 70-28 win.

Lincoln Park will face a a battle tested Math Civics and Science team from the Philadelphia Public League. MCS is led by 6-8 junior, Mike Watkins. Watkins has already pledged to play for Pat Chambers at Penn State. Lincoln Park has not faced many challenges all year long, with a 29-1 record and their lone loss coming to class AAAA state finalist, New Castle. The game today is expected to be much more difficult than their previous playoff games. The game can be seen live on the Pennsylvania Cable Network (PCN) at 2:00, and it should be a good game with a future Pitt Panther squaring off against future Nittany Lion with a state championship on the line.
