Last year, NFL stars and former Pitt greats Curtis Martin and Chris Doleman, took their chance at getting into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. After falling short, they're getting another crack at it.
Both Martin and Doleman were named as two of the 26 semifinalists. The list started with more than 100 candidates being nominated.I'm not sure if Doleman will ever get there, though I definitely think he deserves to with 150.5 sacks (good for fourth place all-time). But Martin is a slam dunk in my opinion and even if this isn't his year, hard to not see him getting in. He had over 14,000 career yards and was one of the best running backs in the 1990s. Last year was his first year eligible.
Locally, Jerome Bettis, Dermontti Dawson, Donnie Shell, and Kevin Greene of the Pittsburgh Steelers are also candidates.
