Busy day on the recruiting front today as Corey Clement's decommitment from Pitt is followed by the commitment of Columbus tight end Devon Edwards.
Edwards is a three-star recruit on 247Sports and Scout, while he's a two-star on Rivals. He picked Pitt over offers from Nebraska, West Virginia, Boston College, North Carolina State, Purdue, Kentucky and others. Judging from his size and offers, I'd be surprised if he doesn't end up being a three-star recruit on Rivals as well.
At 6'5" and 240 lbs, Edwards could be a big target for Voytik/Chapman/Kincade after a redshirt year, although playing time as a freshman may not be out of the question with Pitt losing Hubie Graham after the season. Pitt's tight ends will be Drew Carswell and JP Holtz, while Edwards joins Scott Orndoff and Jaymar Parrish in this class. It seems as if at least one freshman tight end will have the chance to earn some major minutes in 2013.
So far this season, Edwards has only eight catches, but five of them have been for touchdowns going into last weekend's games.
