We all know that Pitt isn't a very good team this season. But after losing to Youngstown State in the season opener (rather handily, I add parenthetically), fans wondered if the Penguins were indeed a pretty good team. That would do little to ease the loss, mind you. But losing to one of the best FCS programs would lessen the blow just a bit.
For four weeks, Youngstown State appeared to be among the FCS elite. They'd beaten Pitt by two touchdowns at Heinz Field, threw up a 59-0 beatdown on Valparaiso, and proceeded to win their next two games.
But that's where things went off the track. The Penguins have now lost three in a row and look like they'll be struggling to just make the playoffs. Losing to an FCS school at home by 14 points is already embarrassing, but that's even more true now that it appears Youngstown State isn't all that good.
