Like it or not, folks, it's looking like Pitt is headed to the BBVA Compass Bowl game for a third consecutive year, according to CBS' Brett McMurphy. McMurphy says it's looking like the Panthers will play Ole Miss. Nothing is confirmed yet, though.
If this is how it shapes out, the bowl game is kind of bittersweet. A few weeks ago with Pitt sitting at 4-6, most of us would have gladly taken any bowl game for the team. But a third straight trip to a less than desirable location? Eh ...
That said, it's still a bowl game. Not only that, but it's one against an SEC team. Bad as it may sound, things could have been worse. Pitt will still get to play in the postseason and the team will get its much needed extra practice time. And I made this point in the comments section of another post, but just as important is the time Paul Chryst will get as a head coach. He's still learning and can use all of the extra experience he can get.
We'll have more on this later, but for now, get ready for Birmingham ... again.
