Catching up with former Pitt guard Isaiah Epps

Joe Camporeale-US PRESSWIRE

Isaiah Epps wasn't a name I'd heard in a while. The former Pitt guard virtually fell off the face of the earth after he declared he was transferring out of the program. But his name resurfaced in the wake of the Malcolm Gilbert transfer and thought I'd do some digging around on him.

But in case you're wondering, Epps is still playing basketball - only not at a high level.

After he decided to transfer, he said he wanted to get closer to home. That happened as he went on to Monroe College in New York, a junior college. Epps is playing for the Monroe Mustangs and as you can imagine, is getting a bit more playing time than he did at Pitt.

Epps is averaging 10 points and 5.5 assists in approximately 25 minutes per game. He still has plenty to work on, though, in light of his 40% field goal percentage and three turnovers a contest. Still, it's good to see him getting a chance to play to try to get his career back on track.
