Pitt expecting rowdy crowd at BBVA Compass Bowl

US PRESSWIRE

We've been over the issue of ticket sales for the BBVA Compass Bowl already. In a nutshell, Ole Miss has sold a lot more tickets than Pitt has and it will be a virtual road game for the Panthers.

Head coach Paul Chryst has picked up on that and, expecting a loud crowd, is trying to find a way to prepare the team. Enter the ever popular crowd noise:

Pitt resumed practice Saturday after taking a holiday break, and it used recorded noise to prepare for a hostile crowd.

I've never been all that sure how much piping in fake crowd noise helps prepare teams for hostile environments, but I'm guessing it works to a degree since so many coaches do it. Still, I'm not sure how much Motley Crue blasting from stereos compares to actual crowd noise. With more than 50,000 expected, the game should have a different feel than previous Compass Bowls that Pitt's been in. That would be the largest crowd ever for the game and it could get a bit loud.
