Pitt vs. Duquesne: City Game Open Gamethread

Joe Camporeale-US PRESSWIRE

Pitt takes on Duquesne in the annual City Game tonight. If you've watched the series lately, it's hard to not get excited.

The Dukes, as a whole, haven't been very good. But they generally get up for the Panthers and have given Pitt some great games recently. Last year, Pitt was up by only seven with about four minutes left until they pulled away and won by 11. In 2009, they needed double overtime to defeat the Dukes. And in 2007, a ninth-ranked Pitt team won by only five. The bottom line is that the game isn't always an easy one.

Duquesne is also looking like a decent team this season. They're only 4-3, but lost by only six points to Georgetown on the road and lost to a 6-2 Albany team by only three on the road. They've had some close wins against weaker competition, but playing a rivalry game, they should be more than capable of giving Pitt a fight.

I'll be around for the Open Gamethread tonight. Leave your comments below before the game and then check back at 7:00 p.m. to comment live.
