Pitt recruit James Robinson recently participated in the Nike Hoop Summit and now he's headed to the USA's U-18 Training Camp this summer.
Robinson will be among 24 players invited - most of which are from the 2012 class. He had a modest three points and one rebound in the Nike Hoop Summit game where the US was upset by the World Team. Making the USA team will be a challenge for him.
After the first few days of training camp, the team will be whittled down and cut in half where the team's 12 selected players will stay on. Pitt has a recent connection with USA basketball, obviously, with Jamie Dixon having coached the U-19 team back in 2009. This year's coaches are Florida's Billy Donovan, Gonzaga's Mark Few, and VCU's Shaka Smart.
If Robinson makes the team, he'll likely miss out on some of the Greentree Summer League, which usually starts in June. The U-18 team will be playing June 16-20 in Brazil.
