CBS Sports uses some kind of formula to predict how major conference teams will fare in 2012-13 conference basketball schedules.
The good news for Pitt? They call for the Panthers to be better than they were in 2011-12. The bad news is that if Pitt winds up with the record they call for (9-9), that probably would only put them on the bubble for the tournament next year.
As I said earlier this week about the football predictions that are starting to trickle out, way too early to make any type of real prediction of how the season will turn out. That's even more the case in basketball as those schedules aren't even out yet. And as Trey Zeigler's status is still unknown, we don't even know Pitt's entire roster at this point.
You can check out the rest of the site's predictions here.
