Interesting note here that Jamie Dixon and the National Association of Basketball Coaches met last Thursday to discuss transfer situations. In a nutshell, the transfer situation in the sport is just short of a mess. The rules aren't consistent enough and players are probably punished a bit too much in many cases.
I understand the gist of the rule and without any type of penalty, players would be jumping from team to team far more often. But in a kid like Trey Zeigler's case, where his father was fired, a kid should probably be able to play right away without the need for an appeals process.
Dixon and the other members met, but don't actually have any legislative authority. But they do have a voice to influence others and with big names on the list such as Dixon, Tom Izzo, and Jim Boeheim, to name a few, you can be sure they'll be heard.
