Pitt held a prospect camp this past weekend, hoping to get a good look at some of their top prospects and to try and find those diamond in the rough recruits. They got a potential under the radar recruit in Toledo athlete Tony Harper, who was offered this past weekend after Pitt coaches saw him at camp and committed to the Panthers soon after. His other offers include Ohio, Toledo, and Akron, but he was getting interest from Big Ten programs such as Ohio State, Illinois, and Northwestern, as well as Notre Dame.

Harper is a 2 star recruit on Rivals and unrated by ESPN, and while he worked mainly with the defensive backs at camp, Joe Rudolph sees him as a H-back, potentially becoming a player like Lance Kendricks was while most of the coaching staff was at Wisconsin.

This has potential to be a good pickup if the staff is able to get the most out of Harper. I never have been a fan of recruits committing soon after receiving an offer, but if he feels like Pitt is the right program for him, far be it from me to question it. Welcome to Pitt, Tony Harper!

Here is a highlight clip courtesy of Scouting Ohio. He is shown playing DB here, but as I said above, the staff wants him on the offensive side of the ball.
