Pitt Basketball Newcomers Leading The Way?

Meant to get to this earlier (maybe the most commonly used words on this blog), but ZagsBlog has a list of the top 21 players in the Big East for the 2012-13 basketball season. Two players on Pitt both made the list - transfer Trey Zeigler and incoming freshman Steven Adams.

The most notable thing to me is that they're both newcomers, obviously.

With all due respect to J.J. Moore, who came on late last season, the 'big two' would probably be Lamar Patterson and Tray Woodall if there were no Adams or Zeigler. I could have seen both on this list and I'm a bit surprised that neither made it. Part of it's about representing the entire league, but Woodall was on a near record-pace for the school record for a single season before his injury. And while it's easy to look at Patterson's relatively modest nine points and five rebounds per game last year, I think he could really be a breakout player next year without Ashton Gibbs and Nasir Robinson.

Can't include everyone, though.

Here's ZagsBlog's full list.
