The season began last night, and as is typical on weeknight games, a MAC school provided ample entertainment. Also, South Carolina QB Connor Shaw put forth a gutsy effort and won...in part because of a horribly missed pass interference call with a minute left in the game, Arizona State went "High Octane" against a horrible FCS Northern Arizona squad, and Mike Leach's Washington State team was blown out by BYU in his return to coaching.
With that said, we will take a look at on-goings in the BIG EAST and ACC across a variety of different sports...after the jump.
UR DOIN IT WRONG! In last night's opening slate of games, Kent State punted, Towson muffed the punt, Kent State recovered, hilarity ensued.
B1G Ten/ACC Challenge > BIG EAST/SEC Challenge. I hold this to be true, not only because of better matchups, but because the ACC will allow both Pitt and Syracuse to participate next season.
"Pitt can't have nice things" stated a Marquette blogger. This came after the BIG EAST announced that Marquette would host the 2012 BIG EAST Women's Volleyball championships this fall. The championships were originally schedule to be held in Pittsburgh. No official word on why the move occurred.
Scoping out the future competition. Today will begin the public sale of tickets to the 2012 Dr. Pepper ACC Football Championship on December 1st in Charlotte, NC.
Expansiopocolypse continues. Not exactly groundbreaking news, as this was expected after Memphis and Navy were added as the 12th and 13th teams to the BIG EAST, but the conference is looking to add a 14th.
