At 1-2, Pitt doesn't have a great record. And not getting to a bowl game would hardly be a huge surprise with the way the season has started out. But ESPN's Andrea Adelson thinks that a 1-2 Syracuse team will reach a bowl game while the Panthers will be on the outside looking in.
Adelson projects the Orange to play in the Beef O'Brady's Bowl in December:Beef 'O' Brady's, Dec. 21 -- Syracuse vs. Conference USA. Orange did not inspire much confidence against Stony Brook but I still think they have the potential to get to six wins.
She then leaves the Panthers out of the equation, though.
I don't have much of a problem with this, but coming off a big win at Virginia Tech, I think Pitt has shown a bit more than Syracuse whose only win was a fairly close one at Stony Brook.
I get it - the Panthers aren't world beaters just yet. They've had only one good game and have looked bad in two others. But with a home loss to Northwestern, I don't know that they're in better position to reach a bowl game over Pitt.
