Against the Odds: Georgia Tech favored against Pitt

Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sport

After a loss to Navy this past weekend, it shouldn't come as any surprise that Pitt isn't favored to beat Georgia Tech this weekend. Not that it can't happen, of course, but the Panthers really wouldn't have any business being favored against the Yellow Jackets after their performance this past weekend.

What did surprise me a little is that Pitt is a pretty healthy underdog at 9.5 points as Monday. The Panthers weren't impressive this weekend and as I've pointed out elsewhere, they've limped along to some pretty uninspired victories. Still, 9.5. points seems to be a little heavy to me given the fact that Georgia Tech hasn't been lights out either this year.

Georgia Tech was walloped by 18 points to BYU, lost by 15 to Miami (who looks less impressive by the week), and while they beat North Carolina and Virginia, they did so by fairly close margins of eight and ten points, respectively.

I wouldn't be surprised to see that line come back a little in Pitt's favor, but we'll see.
