One thing I've missed out a bit on this year is keeping up with all of the weekly awards Pitt players have been bringing home. But Aaron Donald did have such a great game that it was worth mentioning the kudos he received in conference and even around the country.
Against Georgia Tech, Donald had some kind of game including 11 tackles, six tackles for loss, two forced fumbles, and a sack for good measure. Earlier this week, he was named the ACC's Defensive Lineman of the Week for that effort. Last night, he took home an even bigger award as the Nagurski Award folks named him the National Defensive Player of the Week.
Donald has been a one-man wrecking crew this season and it's good to see him getting some respect on a national level. It's a shame that Pitt has been, well, Pitt, this year and that they don't have a better record to show for his efforts. But even at 4-4, people are taking notice.
