Cam Wright motivated by Pitt's lack of respect in the polls

Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sport

I generally don't pay too much attention to the college basketball rankings for the first couple of weeks of the season. A lot of teams load up on cupcakes and it's just hard to get a handle on things when half of all college basketball teams might start out with a few wins.

But with the Panthers now 9-0, as I've said in the past, Pitt should be ranked. Pitt's non-conference schedule has been light, but as I recently mentioned, the Panthers are hardly the only ones with a weak OOC slate. You can add one of the Panthers' players that feels that way, too. While Jamie Dixon talked like a coach would in terms of Pitt still on the outside looking in on the Top 25, starting guard Cameron Wright admits that he's playing with a chip on his shoulder:

"I'd be lying to you if I told you I don't look at those rankings," guard Cameron Wright said. "It provides a bigger chip for our team."

I give Cam kudos for admitting that when he could have easily lied and said it didn't matter. There are only a handful of teams still undefeated in D-I and it's easy to see how he would feel snubbed.
