Pitt vs. Cincinnati: Open Gamethread

Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

Wanted to get to a preview for Pitt-Cincinnati. Heck, it warranted one, right? With all due respect to Stanford, a pretty good program, and Penn State, who gave Pitt a run for their money, Cincinnati might be the best team the Panthers have faced to this point.

That said, if Pitt didn't win this game, it would be a disappointment.

Cincinnati has two losses to this point, including a spanking by Xavier at home. The other loss was to New Mexico. The Bearcats do own a decent win against North Carolina State, but since the Wolfpack also lost to NC Central, well, we don't know much about them, either.

This is a nice game for Pitt, but if we're being honest here, it's one the Panthers really should win. On the flipside, if Pitt does win this one and doesn't job to Cal Poly next week, I don't want to hear a thing about them not being good enough to be ranked. 12-0 beating anybody is impressive and if the Panthers get there, ranking three- and four-loss teams ahead of them will just look rather foolish.
